MAC- PERVETTE

MAC PERVETTE- £15.50

Ever had that feeling when you find a long lost MAC lipstick?... the one you thought that was long gone and you've been mentally punishing yourself over wasting £15.50 ever since? Well I experienced this the other day, I was actually on the hunt for my winter bobble hat at the time when I came across my first ever MAC lipstick- Pervette, which was bought as a gift for me 4 YEARS AGO.  It popped up in the depths of my underwear draw of all places, considering I have moved house since then, I was pretty lucky.

Please no lectures on the grossness of ignoring the use-by date, I have cleaned it with a cotton wool bud everyone don't worry. And i'm sorry, but there is no way I'm letting it go to waste!

Before writing this post I actually had to check that MAC actually still sold Pervette... they do. Pervette is a soft bright pink glossy lipstick with violet shimmer, I remember at the time I got it that it was a bit daring with it having metallic properties, but now I am 100% embracing it. According to the MAC website, this is the iconic lipstick which made MAC famous, and I can definitely see why!

BLOGMAS #5- REVIEW: BORN PRETTY STORE

*Ok I know its not really Christmassy themed, but last week I was kindly asked to review a product from the Born Pretty Store. I wanted to share this with you as they have a vast amount of products in their make up range including anything from eye shadow, lip gloss and lipstick, to makeup bushes and nail polish. They best thing? It is all extremely affordable!

Appearance
I chose to review one of their waterproof cosmetic lip balms- they come in a few different colours but of course I chose pink! The lip balm is quite small and thin so its perfect for popping in your handbag or makeup bag and comes in lovely bright packaging.
Functionality
The product itself is a natural cream lipstick and leaves a beautiful smooth finish, I would say that for a tinted lip balm it really does add a lot of colour to the lips and is more of a lipstick than a balm.
Usage
As ever, a lip balm could be worn as part of a natural daytime makeup look if you go for one of the pale pink or coral shades, there is also a more vibrant pink for evening wear. I found that the balm also worked great for a base coat under a brighter pink lipstick- especially under matte.
Cost
With most lip balms costing below £5, this one will cost you a mere £2.27!
This is not the first time I have reviewed a product from Born Pretty Store- I have also reviewed one of their beautiful rose gold watches- you can find my review here. You can find the lip balm and other products in the Born Pretty makeup range here, and if you are interested, you can also get prepared for the party season and grab yourself 10% off by using the code ELNH10.
What do you think? Leave me a comment below! :)

REVIEW: MAC VELVET TEDDY

This post has kind of developed into a review of MAC's velvet teddy and pictures from my night out at the weekend- these were the only pictures I had of the lipstick for this post!

Velvet teddy is possibly one of the most popular and sought after of the MAC lipstick range at the moment, ever since the nude lipstick trend came onto the beauty scene- and its all down to Kylie Jenner.... I don't know about you, but I love the nude lip trend! It is so effortless to pull off and suits all kinds of lip sizes and skin colours. I think velvet teddy is also perfect for any occasion, and is also perfect to use as an autumnal shade as we leave the summer months behind.

Colour- As I said- velvet teddy has such a grown up feel to it, you could wear it on a night out like I did, for a special occasion or even just day to day as it stays well put even when your eating and drinking I've found. Be careful though, as this shade of nude has some orangey/ brown tones to it, and some friends who have paler skin than myself have had issues with how the colour looks against their skin tone- so always try before you buy!

Texture- Velvet Teddy is a matte lipstick. With some of these I find it is essential to apply a base coat of lip balm to avoid dry and crumbly lipstick, however with this one I haven't had any problems with it at all.

Appearance- As a nude lipstick, by adding a nude lip liner to he edges and cupids bow of your lips to add definition, you can really nail that Kylie Jenner lip.

Price- Ok, it goes without saying. The MAC lipsticks are over priced. If like me though, you only buy a few every once in a while, why not invest in a quality lipstick that will last you ages! I tend to find my other day to day MAC lippies have lasted at least 2 years... probably because you don't have to keep reapplying them!

Asside from velvet teddy, other MAC favourites include crème sheen crème cup, viva glam 5, Milan mode, Cyber, Rebel, Ruby Woo, and pink pigeon. What are your favourites at the moment? Have you tried Velvet Teddy? What are your thoughts? Leave me a comment below!

OOTN| Wedding!

If any of you read any of my recent posts then you will know that last Saturday I was at my boyfriend's sisters wedding! I absolutely love weddings, like seriously I watch wedding shows like Don't tell the bride on a daily basis, my dream job would be a wedding planner, but anyway I was just invited to the evening party which was amazing. I don't know about you, but planning an outfit for a wedding is always a tricky one, as it was the evening, a lot of people were dressed up so nicely, but as it was a family occasion I didn't want to look too dressy or wear anything too revealing, so I thought I would wear my burgundy midi dress from Topshop which I bought for £18 last year. What I love about this dress is that although it is very clingy, the length of the sleeves and dress mean it isn't too revealing, it is also a fantastic dress for accessorizing and is perfect for dressing up or down for all occasions. I chose to accessorize with black suade platform heels, silver chain and gem necklace, my Michael Kors watch, and completed my look with some bold purple MAC lipstick which almost matches! Some of the pictures below are a little embarrassing, she decided to provide a fancy dress box for everyone to try on so of course I experimented with a lot of it, aha, what do you think of my outfit? :)

MAC Lipstick Collection...

Recently I have come to realise that I may in fact have a minor addiction for buying M.A.C lippies! I don't know what it is about them, but seeing row after row of beautiful lipsticks I can't help but try a few out, and of course, that leads to a purchase or too. What I love about MAC in particular is that they are such great quality, I love how they come in different textures such as matte, satin, and crème sheen. I currently have a small collection, the first, is viva glam 5, a shimmery lipstick which is designed to bring out your natural lip colour and leave them with a lovely gloss finish. Number 2 is crème sheen crème cup, which I have heard is very popular. For day to day use it is perfect, I am a massive fan of nude/pink lips and this one is just beautiful! For evening wear I have Ruby Woo, every girl needs a red lipstick in their make up bag and this one is so bold, the blue under tones also ensure your teeth look whiter too! The only thing with this one is that you do need to apply a lip balm before using to ensure a smooth application as the texture is matte, I use a Nivia lip balm or EOS balm, I would stay clear of Vaseline and carmex though as they are a bit runny and I find they can sometimes make the lipstick run a little. Finally is my most recent purchase, the satin Rebel lipstick. The colour is a deep purple/ pink colour which I love, I had never been too bold with lipsticks before and used to just stick to neutrals, but having bought Ruby Woo, I thought, why not?! Apart from the £15 price tag which is definitely very expensive, they are definitely worth it, I must admit I have not yet bought into the whole range of cosmetics as this would definitely be a dangerous buying addiction! Do you have any MAC lipsticks? Do you have a fave?
Matte 'Ruby Woo'- £15
Satin 'Rebel'- £15
crème sheen- 'Crème cup'- £15
Viva Glam- '5'- £15
