REVIEW: SLEEK POUT POLISH

SLEEK LIP POLISH 'BARE MINIMUM 963', £4.49, BOOTS

When it comes to my makeup, I tend to keep it quite simple, you'll never see me attempting the smoky eye, wearing eye liner or 'contouring', so when it comes to looking for a new lip product I very rarely wearing bold colour lipsticks unless it's for a night out, instead I stick to nudes and pinky tones which is why I loved this 'lip conditioner'.

Lip balms and tints work so well for moisturising your lips and also adding subtle colour. This lip conditioner does exactly what it says it will and keeps your  lips feeling soft and subtle, whilst enhancing you're natural lip colour, creating a gorgeous shiny effect. I think this lip balm also works really well as a base for your lipstick, allowing you to apply your lipstick smoother and more even.

This is the only sleek product I actually have, however after browsing their collection in boots the other day I've realised a lot of their products look fab! I have heard such great reviews about sleek products, and that they are such high quality, despite their affordable prices!

Have you tried any sleek products? Leave me a comment below! :)

My weekend in pictures

As any of my regular readers will know (because I bang on about it so much), is that I don't really get to see my boyfriend that much as he is currently living in Surrey, and I'm in Leeds, so it is quite difficult to get the time to see each other and find the money to travel, so it's always really nice when he comes up to see me! We decided to go to York on Saturday as it has always been a special place for us, it is also such a beautiful city! Although the main purpose of our visit was too find him some birthday presents (it's his 21st in a few days), we also had a little walk around through the park and down by the river, which is always nice for some alone time! Of course the day ended with a cheeky nandos ;)

Sunday was also quite a chilled out day, we went to the cinema to see 'Home'- I'm quite confused as to why it was showing as it doesn't come out till the 20th.... But hey ho it was a really funny film! (Despite the majority of the other people in the cinema being under 10 years old)... Who doesn't love a kids film?! This was also followed by a trip to Mr. pretzel... If you haven't tried there cinemon pretzel sticks and Nutella dip you haven't lived! The weekend seemed to fly by but we definitely made the most of it! It was such a busy weekend as I also had to go home on Sunday night for a placement interview on Monday, fingers crossed!

To finish, I can't go without mentioning the lady featured in this post, she's my great grandma and celebrated her 96th birthday on Friday! I can't believe it, she doesn't look 96 at all!!

What have you all been up to this weekend, leave me a comment below! :)

FOTD

I have really been struggling recently to think of blog post ideas, but since I have been trying some new makeup products recently, I thought I would do a face of the day post! A lot of the make up I use is really inexpensive, as I am not a huge believer of spending a lot of money on expensive makeup which just gets used up within a few months! The only pricey products in this post come from the Benefit celebutante pallete, the benefit brow zings eyebrow pallete, and the MAC cremesheen lipstick, the rest is mostly Rimmel London. As it is spring time, I think it's time to alter my daily makeup and start using some pinker, lighter shades of lipsticks, primers, highlighters and a little bronzer! Here are the products featured in my look...

RIMMEL LONDON LASTING FINISH FOUNDATION 201, £7.99, Boots
This will always be my favourite foundation, it works just as well as a high end foundation, it stays put all day, it's heat/sweat resistant, transfer resistant and it really does what it says it will, it gives you 25 hour coverage. All of that for just £7.99! This is quite a popular foundation and I have been using it for years now!

NYC 649 PROSPECT PARK ROSE CHEEK GLOW, £2.99, Superdrug
Cheap and cheerful. I love this blusher because I found it's the perfect shade for me, it has a shimmery tint to it so it also acts as a highlighter for your cheeks!

RIMMEL LONDON STAY MATTE POWDER 003 PEACH GLOW, £3.99 Boots
Again, this Rimmel product is very popular. It is so hard to find a good powder but I always find that this one works wonderfully, it gives a light covering and sets your make up so well!

RIMMEL LONDON WONDERFULL MASCARA- £7.99- BOOTS
I never ever usually go for plastic brushes as I never find that they actually volumise my lashes, but with this brush I feel like it gives the best of both worlds, length and volume! Although I usually opt for Scandeleyes, I will definitely be buying more of this mascara!

BENEFIT BROWZINGS, £24.50, Boots
I have only ever used one brow product, but this one has last me years! I only ever add just a little colouring to my brows so this powder and gel like duo work perfectly for adding a touch of colour and setting with the tinted gel.

LEGGY AND DANDY BRANDY BENEFIT VELVET EYEHSHADOW, (part of celebutante set)
I love to combine these colours, applying the shimmery pale 'leggy' shadow all over the eye lid and then adding a touch of 'dandy brandy' to the outer lids and blending. A very neutral but beautiful look!

BENEFIT DALLAS FACE POWDER, (part of celebutante set)
This bronzer is so amazing, benefit have so many different bronzers which are all lovely. I particularly love this one as it isn't too dark but it also adds a lovely shimmer. A great bronzer if you're just getting started with bronzing and contouring.

CREMESHEEN CREMECUP MAC LIPSTICK- £15
This has been my favourite lipstick for so long, it adds a lovely pinky colour to your lips and is so soft and nourishing. The cremesheen lipsticks are a definite favourite of mine!

SLEEK LIP CONDITIONER (POUT POLISH)- £4.49- BOOTS
I always apply this before wearing any lipstick, as it ensures your lips are conditioned and ready for you to smoothly apply your lipstick, you can also use this balm on its own as it is tinted with a pinky/nude tone.

What do you think of my face of the day look? What are your favourite makeup products at the moment? Leave me a comment below! :)

Basics clothing haul

Okay when I said this post was a basics haul, I really did mean basics! For some reason there is literally nothing on the high street right now which is catching my eye, perhaps because we are right in the middle of the limbo between winter and spring fashion, you know when you just don't know what you should be wearing? But if there is something I need to stock up on, it's basics. You can never have enough plain tops to mix and match with a pair of jeans, and you certainly can't be without some simple accessories to help dress up your outfit! The best thing about buying basics is that they are usually so affordable, so this lot didn't really cost much at all, here's what I got! :)

OFF THE SHOULDER RIBBED TOP, £18, RIVER ISLAND
A bit pricey, but super comfy and the off the shoulder style is so on trend! The ribbed material is also so perfect for this time of year when it's still a bit chilly.

MOTO BLACK SUPER SKINNY HIGH WAISTED JONI JEANS, £36, TOPSHOP
You can never have enough pairs of black skinnys, although the colour of Joni jeans tends to fade quite a bit, they are super comfy and I always tend to find that even after several washes they always stay the same tight fitting and don't go out of shape or baggy, they always fit me perfectly too which is always difficult to find when shopping for jeans! I just love the high waisted style so I can pop on a crop top without having too much on show.

GOLD NECKLACE, £1.50, PRIMARK
Accessorising is my favourite thing about an outfit, even the most simplistic of jewellery can instantly dress up your outfit! Primark is the best place to go to find cheaper alternatives of other high street jewellery, and for this gold necklace at £1.50 you can't be robbed, pop on with a basic tee and you're good to go!

LAYERED NECKLACE, £5.99, H&M
Again this is a trend I'm loving right now, layering your necklaces is so fun and this necklace is practically 4 in 1! With different charms on each level this accessory is such a bargain which you can wear over and over with almost anything!

'I LIVE FOR NEW YORK STYLE' TEE, £16, RIVER ISLAND
I never go for slogan tees but I thought this one was so cute, and who doesn't love New York style?! Let's hope the metallic writing survives a good few washes....

HALTERNECK CROP TOP, £8, MISS SELFRIDGE
£8?! I couldn't resist, I can't wait to wear this with some high waisted jeans in the summer!

SHORT SLEEVED RIBBED TOP, £3, PRIMARK
one of the only things I have bought recently from PRIMARK, as I am not usually a fan, but for £3 this is the perfect basic to wear with your jeans day to day, although it is a tad see through...

LONG SLEEVED RIBBED TEE, £8.99, NEW LOOK
New Look is always my one stop destination for basics, their products are such fab quality for such affordable prices. I love wearing thesebasic long sleeve crop tops at the moment with a skirt, so simple and comfy!

What have you all been buying recently? You can find out more about the products I bought by watching my new YouTube video! https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=ZXsdrHzta5c don't forget to leave me a comment below, :).

Mini Boots Haul

Just a quick post to share with you my latest mini Boots haul! I dont know what has gotten into me recently, I usually buy all of my cosmetics and beauty products from discount retailers such as bodycare, savers or Superdrug, but lately I have literally become obsessed with collecting Boots points! I have also become absolutely obssessed with trying new products which will help to improve my skin and hair as I'm trying to take more care of myself!

Anyway as I said it's just a little haul post but here are some of the cosmetics and beauty products I bought!

LEE STAFFORD HAIR GROWTH TREATMENT-£8.49-BOOTS
Although I have no idea if this actually makes your hair grow or not, considering I have been using it every wash for 2 weeks and seen no difference, I would say that it is absolutely perfect for making your hair smell absolutely amazing even days after you washed it! It also leaves your hair feeling silky smooth and soft, definitely give this one a try!

RIMMEL LONDON MOISTURE RENEW LIPSTICK 'VINTAGE PINK'- £6.49- BOOTS
I did a review of this in a previous post if you fancy a look! This lipstick is perfect for making your lips feel soft and supple, and although I am more of a fan of lip balm, I did love using this lipstick as it adds a little colour that is different to your average pink lippy!

GARNIER MOISTURE MATTE 'SHINE BE GONE' MOISTURISER- £3.99-BOOTS
I am such a fan of this moisturiser because the only thing that I hate about moisturisers is that my skin always feels greasy afterwards and I find it difficult to apply my makeup afterwards as it goes slimy! However this one creates a matte finish and ensures you stay shine free all day which is helpful if you can suffer from oily skin at times like me.

NEUTROGENA BLACKHEAD ELIMINATING CLEANSING LOTION-£3.99- BOOTS
Although I haven't noticed any visible difference at the moment, because I have only been using it for a couple of weeks, I would say it is very good at removing any little bits of dirt from your skin or makeup residue that your makeup remover may have missed. The only thing I would say is that it is very strong so keep it away from your delicate eye area.

TED BAKER BODY SPRAY-£2.50-BOOTS
I have been using this body spray for so long as I always used to get it in gift sets for Christmas, it is the perfect handbag essential and smells absolutely beautiful!

CAREX SENSITIVE HAND GEL- £1.45- BOOTS
This is my number one hand bag essential, I can't live without it, I am such an OCD when it comes to germs and you can never be too careful when getting trains, tubes and buses so I always make sure I have some hand sanitiser on me at all times!

Since I bought these bits and bobs I have bought a few more products, you can see the rest in my very first YouTube video here-

Little treats from me to me...

When I was naming this post I had to think a little, will my readers be expecting to see that I've bought myself something expensive or something really fab? Well I haven't, I just treated myself to a few bits and pieces I have had my eye on recently and seen as I haven't been having the best time lately, infact for the past two months I've become the unluckiest person ever, I thought I would treat myself to a little retail therapy. A few of these pieces were bought while I was in York for valentines day, and the rest was bought this week, surprisingly I haven't been buying a lot of clothes recently and my wardrobe desperately needs updating so I thought why not! I am also a bit of a skincare and makeup hauler at the moment, unfortunately my wish list is ever expanding...

'I LIVE FOR NEW YORK STYLE' CROPPED TEE-£16-RIVER ISLAND
I never ever ever buy slogan tops, but I am in desperate need of casual tops to pop on with my jeans and I just really liked the minimalist style of this top, also who doesn't love New York style?!...

FLEUR DE FORCE, THE GLAM GUIDE-£7.49-WHSMITH
I am a big lover of blogger and fashion/ beauty books at the moment so when I spotted this one in store the other day I just had to grab myself a copy. What I love about this book is that it covers beauty, fashion, lifestyle, dreams and relationships in such a casual way, you know those books when you just know this is so truthful and hasn't just been written by other people? That's the main reason I loved it, Fleaur de force offers such great advice and tips along with an insight into her personal experiences, I highly reccomend you grab yourself a copy! Next on my wish list is Love Tanya, by Tanya Burr.

GARNIER SHINE BE GONE! TONER-£3.29- SUPERDRUG
I am really trying to work on my skincare routine, I now use Micellar cleansing water, moisturiser and toner to try and keep my skin cleansed and oil free. I haven't tried this toner yet but it aims to minimise pores, reduce blemishes and prevent oily skin, so I'll let you know how that goes!

RIMMEL LONDON LASTING FINISH FOUNDATION & RIMMEL LONDON WONDER'FULL MASCARA- £7.99 EACH- BOOTS
Although I hardly ever buy my my makeup from boots as I prefer to get it cheaper at savers or body care I am trying to build upon my boots points haha, so when I popped into boots today I noticed all of their RIMMEL LONDON products were on offer 2 for £10 and considering I needed a new mascara, and the products are worth £7.99 each, I just had to get them!

OFF THE SHOULDER RIBBED TOP-£18.00-RIVER ISLAND
This was definitely an impulse buy, I spotted it alone, in my size and it had no orange makeup stains on it...I absolutely loved it and thankfully I bought it because they don't stock it in my local store! I really love the off the shoulder trend right now, and the ribbed nature of the material also keeps you warm in this freezing cold weather!

MULTIPLE ROW NECKLACE-£5.99-H&M
Again this is a trend which I have completely fallen for, I have seen  a lot of these about, especially in Topshop which have some gorgeous jewellery in store at the moment, but when I saw this one for just £5.99 I had to buy it, such a bargain! It is so perfect for dressing up a causal day outfit by wearing over a cami, oversized jumper or causal tee.

RIB FUNNEL TOP (NAVY)-£10.00- TOPSHOP
I am such a fan of Topshop basics at the moment, especially these funnel tops which combine casual wear with the high neck trend for just £10, I also have this one in white, shock.

My Valentines Weekend

Yet again, this post is a tad late. But as I said I was spending the weekend with my boyfriend so I just didn't have the time to get this post put together! You probably already know that my relationship is pretty long distance, like over 300 miles of long distance, so this weekend was extra special as I don't really get to see Kyle that much. I literally had the best valentines day, he came up on Friday evening and Saturday we woke up to each other's prezzies (I will show you what I got below), then we decided to go to York for the day, it's kind of a special place for us so what better place to spend valentines day?! We never really go all out for valentines day but we did do a little shopping, ate quite a few dinky donuts, braved the freezing cold, and had a delicious Pizza Hut for tea. When we got back we spent the evening watching take me out, ordered more takeaway and I personally consumed a little too much rose, oops. Sunday we went to see the Kingsman at the cinema, I know what you're thinking, you went to the cinema and didn't see fifty shades?! I'm going at the weekend with my girls haha. But to end the day we had a little mooch around the shops before he left for his train, a short but lovely weekend!

Anyway, on with the prezzies.....
These are literally the best valentines day presents I have recidved, it may not look like much but we never really make a big deal of buying expensive presents for valentines day and prefer to treat each other massively for Christmas and birthdays. I think it's always more special when a lot of thought goes into the presents rather than money!

TWO HEARTS GIFT SET- LUSH
Right now my blog is practically an advertisement for LUSH products, I CANT HELP MYSELF. I love everything from that store it's all so pretty and smells gorge! This set in particular includes the heartthrob bubbleroon, love locket ballistic and Cupid's love soap. I cannot wait to try these out!

ROSE BUBBLEBAR-LUSH
Shock, it's a LUSH product. I literally spotted this a couple days before Valentines day and posted a picture on Instagram, how cute are they?! And thankfully Kyle got the hint and surprised me with one, I bet this is going to make my bath look ridiculously girly!

ME-TO-YOU VALENTINES GIFT SET
I don't actually know where this is from, but who doesn't want a teddy bear and some chocolate on valentines day?!

COPPER HEART PHOTO FRAME
This was such a lovely surprise, I love having photo frames around my room to add my own personal touch, this frame is just the cutest and I am such a huge fan of rose gold/ copper colours right now which makes it perfect! The sentimentality behind this gift is also so cute, he told me we had to take a valentines day picture to put in it, soppy I know!

HARIBO SUPERMIX
I could quite happily eat my own body weight in haribos, so yet again this gift was spot on!

I would absolutely love to know how you spent valentines day, and hear about any gifts you received, leave me a comment below! :)
